Delivered from the factory in Silver Metallic (5706), this Reutter-bodied coupe is said to have received paintwork under previous ownership in 2000. Features include body-color bumpers with chrome overriders and guards, teardrop taillights, a single-vent engine cover, dual side-view mirrors, chrome headlight stone guards, and a Reutter tag riveted to the lower right fender. A collection of matching body stampings on the hood and deck lid match the last digits on the VIN and can be seen in the gallery below. A spare set of glass headlight lenses are included in the sale.
The 15″ chrome wide-five wheels feature black-painted centers, and are with 185/65 Michelin X One radial tires. A 1/59-stamped silver-painted spare wheel with an older Michelin tire is included in the sale along with a set of Super-style chrome hubcaps with color Porsche crest centers. Koni red shocks are fitted at all four corners. Replacement brake master and slave cylinders were installed under the seller’s ownership along with new shoes, although the brakes are described as soft.
The cockpit features a split front bench seat trimmed in brown leather with a matching rear bench, door panels, and a dash pad. Oatmeal square-weave carpets line the floors, and additional features include Coco Mats, lap belts, and a Porsche-branded radio blanking plate. A replacement perforated beige headliner was reportedly installed in 2014.
The ivory-color Speedster-style steering wheel frames VDO gauges that are said to have been refurbished by North Hollywood Speedometer in 2013 and consist of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, and a combination auxiliary gauge. LED dash lights are fitted. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The Type 616/2 flat-four is said to have been rebuilt and enlarged to 1,720cc by Deutsche Motor Sports of Concord, California in May 2013. The car has been converted to a 12-volt electrical system and an Optima Red Top battery is fitted. Photos taken during the engine rebuild can be seen in the gallery.
Engine stamping P*83390* matches the number listed on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and Kardex.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle that was reportedly sourced from a 356B. Whine is noted from second gear.
