The bus received a bare-metal repaint in a Paul Smoot custom-mixed gray circa 2014. Equipment includes color-matched bumpers with overriders, a roof rack, a split windshield with factory safari windows, swing-out side doors, dual side mirrors, and polished trim with red accents. 3M ceramic clear film is said to be applied to the glass.
Chrome 15″ and 16″ Fuchs wheels are wrapped in 165/50 Federal Formoza front and 205/55 Pirelli rear tires. The van is also equipped with a 4″ narrowed front ball joint beam, adjustable Spax shocks, and four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes with red calipers.
The cabin was reupholstered by West Coast Classic Restorations in Fullerton, California, and features red leather front seats, along with replacement door panels and carpets. Additional equipment includes an MCJ steering wheel, rubber mats, lap seatbelts, an overhead ventilation unit, a Gene Berg shifter with an engraved knob, and a Kenwood stereo system with a removable subwoofer box.
Dual swing-out doors provide access to a rear compartment that features two rows of bench seats finished in red vinyl.
The speedometer dial trim has been modified with body-color accents, and a tachometer is mounted in an overhead console along with gauges for oil pressure and oil temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 6,300 miles and was reset to zero during the refurbishment. The true chassis mileage is unknown.
The blacked-out flat-four was reportedly built to 2,275cc by Old Speed of Paramount, California, and is said to be equipped with an Engle camshaft and Jeff Denham cylinder heads. Additional equipment includes Weber carburetors, an external oil cooler, a custom wiring harness, a 12-volt electrical system, and a stainless A-1 sidewinder exhaust system with heater boxes. The most recent service reportedly consisted of a valve adjustment and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Rancho four-speed manual transaxle with 3.88:1 gearing. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
