Beginning in 2021, the body was disassembled, placed on a rotisserie, and fitted with a replacement nose section, floor panels, and lower body panels. A repaint was carried out in the reported factory color Cherry Red (70), and the exterior was refinished once more in 2022 with additional work consisting of realigning the body panels, straightening and re-plating the door chrome trim, as well as installing steel headlight buckets and chrome-finished inner headlight bezels. Exterior details include dual mirrors, quarter vent windows, chrome-finished bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets.
The refinished 15″ steel wheels wear Jensen production polished covers and are mounted with 165-series Firestone 560 tires. The suspension was overhauled during the refurbishment along with the front disc and rear drum brakes.
The cabin features low-back front bucket seats reupholstered in cream vinyl that extends to the rear seat, trim panels, and door panel inserts. Additional amenities include three-point front seat belts, a heater, gray floor mats, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and a Volvo by Bendix radio that has been retrofitted with modern Aurora design electronics with AM/FM, Bluetooth, and a USB charging port.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and vertical gauges for coolant and oil temperatures. A clock and additional readouts for fuel level and oil pressure are located at the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows just under 19k miles, approximately 1,000 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.8-liter B18 inline-four was reportedly overbored .020″ and fitted with replacement pistons during the refurbishment. Additional equipment includes twin SU carburetors and a later 1800S exhaust manifold linked to a stainless-steel exhaust system. Replacement hood and trunk lid insulation pads were installed in 2022, and an oil change was carried out in November 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.
Photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment process will accompany the car, along with a tool kit, recent service records, service and operating manuals, assorted literature, two sets of keys and fobs, and spare parts.
