Originally finished in Ruby Red, the body was reportedly repainted Light Ivory during previous ownership. According to the seller, the exterior was refinished again in 2017 due to being keyed along its right side. Accessories include bumper overriders, a chrome luggage rack mounted to the rear deck lid, and Hella fog lights, the latter of which are not connected to a power source. The tan soft top is shown both lowered and raised, and a matching top boot is included in the sale.
Chrome 15″ wheels with hubcaps wear 185/65 Continental TrueContact tires with 2016 date codes. Painted steel wheels with hubcaps are included in the sale, as is a set of 15″ Fuchs alloys. The car is equipped with disc brakes at all four corners, and the seller states that the suspension was overhauled in September 2019.
Black upholstery was replaced with tan leather on the seats, door panels, and upper dash pad under previous ownership. The dash face was also refinished to match the body, and replacement square-weave carpeting was added. A Blaupunkt tri-band radio is connected to speakers mounted in each kick panel.
A wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames green-lettered VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer flanked by a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 22k miles, 11k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1,600cc flat-four was installed on November 3, 1966 by Raffay & Co. in Germany, and is said to be configured to SC specifications. Induction is from twin Solex carburetors with Knecht mesh air cleaners. An overhaul with a replacement crankshaft reportedly carried out in 1991 by European Motors of San Rafael, California. More recent work included replacing the battery in 2020 as well as an oil change, carburetor adjustment, and new air filter gaskets in February 2021.
Case stamping KD*P*0820040* contains a double-struck P and matches the replacement engine number noted on the Kardex. The non-matching replacement transmission stamping is pictured in the gallery.
A rear camber compensator bar has been fitted, and the car retains a European-style exhaust and heating system. Additional underbody photos are included below.
The Kardex lists the production date, original distributor, factory colors, and powertrain numbers as well as early ownership and service history. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is also included in the sale.
The car comes with a reproduction tool roll in addition to an owner’s manual, a jack, a spare muffler, a set of coco floor mats, a nose protector, and extra speaker grilles. Cold-start and driving videos are presented below.
