The car was repainted in its factory shade of Signal Red (6407) during the late 1980s and replacement window guides and door seals have been installed under current ownership. Exterior details include body-colored bumpers with polished overriders, a driver-side mirror, and a twin-grille decklid. The seller notes chips in the paint and states that the windshield washer and backup light are inoperable. The brightwork is said to have been re-chromed under current ownership. A pair of holes on the rear bumper from a previously-installed license plate bracket have been plugged and painted and are shown in the gallery.
Powder-coated 15” steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps with Porsche crests and are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were installed during the seller’s ownership. Bilstein shocks are fitted and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The front seats were fitted with replacement padding and reupholstered with black vinyl covers in 2021. The rearview mirror, heater valve, and sun visors have been replaced, and three-point seatbelts and factory sound deadening have also been added.
The body-colored dash houses green VDO instrumentation that consists of a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, as well as a combination gauge and an upgraded Quartz dash clock. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter flat-four was rated at 75 horsepower and features a pair of Zenith NDIX carburetors, which were refurbished by 356 Carburetor Rescue in 2016. Additional work performed under current ownership is said to include powder coating the engine tin and air cleaners, as well as replacing the clutch assembly, throwout bearing, the Dansk muffler, and Interstate battery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
Engine stamping *713955* shown above matches the number listed on the Kardex viewable in the gallery.
Replacement floor pans from Restoration Design were installed in the last year, and additional photos of the underbody are included in the gallery.
