The car was delivered from the factory in Bali Blue (6412), and the left-front fender is said to have been repainted in the 1970s. Features include front and rear chrome bumper guards with cross bars and rubber strips as well as a single polished exhaust outlet, gold script on the rear decklid, pop-out quarter windows, a retractable antenna, fender-mounted Talbot mirrors, four-screw horn grilles, and Hella fog lights. The windshield washer system was overhauled in June 2023. A collection of paint meter readings can be seen in the gallery.
The 15″ chrome ventilated wheels wear polished Porsche crest hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires that were installed in June 2023. A suspension overhaul performed at that time included the installation of replacement Koni shocks, bushings, and a steering damper as well as a rebuild of the rear control arms. The four-wheel disc brakes were also serviced with rebuilds of the rear calipers and replacement brake hoses.
The cockpit features front seats trimmed in black leatherette with Pepita cloth inserts. Salt-and-pepper carpets line the floors, and additional equipment includes front head rests, wood dash trim, a loudspeaker, folding rear seats, and a Webasto gas heater. The Blaupunkt push-button radio was rebuilt in June 2023.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames VDO green-letter instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 150-mph speedometer, a clock, and combination gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 82k miles, approximately 40 of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 2.0-liter 901/01 flat-six features twin Solex carburetors and was factory rated at 130 horsepower. The engine was removed by the selling dealer in October 2015 and overhauled with replacement gaskets, spark plugs, an oil return tube, and an aluminum intake hose. A replacement oil pressure sender and valve cover gaskets were installed in June 2023, and an oil change was also performed. Engine stamping 901588 can be seen in the gallery and is listed on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Type 901/0 five-speed manual transmission.
