Turbine-style 15″ wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial redline tires. The chassis is said to have been stripped and powder coated and the rubber bushings, brake lines, and brake hoses were reportedly replaced under current ownership. The car is equipped with power steering as well as Bilstein shocks, and braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners.
The cabin is said to have been refreshed using upholstery and components from Al Knoch Interiors of Canutillo, Texas, and is equipped with low-back bucket seats trimmed in black leather. Equipment includes a push-button Delco AM/FM radio, a clock, a cabin heater, a reverse lock-out shifter, and hand-crank side windows.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline accompanied by a 160-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 454ci V8 was overbored 0.060″ and stroked for a total displacement of 496ci as part of a rebuild performed by Hampton Engines of New York in 2011. The engine was fitted with a SCAT crankshaft, SRP pistons, Manley Performance connecting rods, and a COMP Cams hydraulic roller camshaft as part of the work. Additional features include three two-barrel carburetors, four-into-one exhaust headers, and a chrome air cleaner lid and valve covers. An oil change was performed and the coolant was flushed in preparation for the sale. A June 2011 dynamometer test results indicated output of 609 horsepower and 563 lb-ft.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear axle. A dual-friction clutch assembly along with a replacement throw-out bearing and pilot bearing were installed in May 2011.
Documentation accompanying the car includes an owner’s manual, engine dynamometer sheets, and service records from current ownership.
