The exterior wore an older repaint in black prior to the restoration, and the car was disassembled and stripped to bare metal during the work. The floorboards, lower valances, outer sills, lower door skins, engine side frames, bonnet support frame, and other corroded areas were replaced before a repaint in the factory shade of Opalescent Silver Blue was performed followed by application of ceramic coating. New body seals, beading, and exterior trim pieces were installed, along with a new dark blue soft top that can be seen in the raised position in the photo gallery below.
New Dayton chrome wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Blockley 185VR15 tires showing 2020 date codes. A trunk-mounted spare is wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic rubber. The braking system was overhauled during the restoration and features discs all around, with the rear units located inboard.
The cabin was re-upholstered with materials sourced from BAS International including red leather over the seats, door panels, and center tunnel, consistent with the trim color listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Red carpeting covers the floors, while matching Hardura lines the rear shelf and trunk. Additional features include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, black lap belts, a dark blue top boot, and a Blaupunkt radio below toggle switchgear.
Refurbished Smiths instrumentation includes a 260-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock as well as gauges monitoring coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer was set to zero during the restoration and now shows 1,600 kilometers (~1k miles).
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six was rebuilt during the restoration and is said to have been fitted with new Mahle pistons as well as replacement bearings, gaskets, valves, a timing chain, an oil pump, and other internal components. The triple SU carburetors were also overhauled, and a galvanized fuel tank was installed along with a new fuel pump and lines. An Alicool aluminum radiator and a 10-blade electric cooling fan have been added along with 123ignition electronic ignition. The electrical system were also freshened and a new alternator was fitted.
Engine number 7E9837-9 is stamped on the engine block and can also be seen stamped on the cylinder head in the gallery below.
The four-speed manual gearbox was overhauled with new seals, bearings, and rollers, and a new flywheel was installed. The rear differential was also rebuilt, along with the independent suspension and other axle components. The stainless steel exhaust system can be viewed above. The underbody panels were reportedly treated with Wurth protective coating.
Images from the restoration are included in the gallery below, and additional photos from the project are included in a bound photo book that accompanies the car. Invoices for parts purchased during the work are also pictured in the gallery below.
A custom two-piece set of luggage wrapped in red leather with plaid inner lining is included in the sale, as are a tool kit, hammer, and knock-off wrench.
