The car was involved in a rear end collision in January 2001 and was subsequently repaired, and the car was reportedly refinished in its current shade of beige by Cologne Auto of Belmont, California, in 2002. Rust repair in February 2003 involved replacing the front and rear floor pans. The seller notes rust bubbles near the driver-side mirror and near the right-rear tail light.
Chrome 15″ wheels with Porsche dog dish hubcaps are wrapped in 165/80 Classic Radial LL800 All Season tires that the seller states should be replaced. A full size spare is mounted in the front trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin features seating surfaces that were reportedly reupholstered in tan vinyl in 2002, at which time the carpets were replaced. Equipment includes an Alpine stereo, aftermarket speakers mounted in the door panels, crank windows, and shoulder and lap belts. Photos show stained upholstery in the rear wheel wells, and the driver-side speaker grille is missing.
The four-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a centrally-mounted tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, auxiliary gauges, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 3,400 miles and the seller states that the odometer is estimated to have rolled over five times, though total mileage is unknown. The seller states that the clock does not work, the tachometer is slow to respond, and the steering wheel is worn.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is reportedly equipped with a pair of Solex carburetors, and it drives the rear wheels through an optional five-speed manual transaxle. Work performed in August 2022 is said to have included overhauling the carburetors, adjusting the timing and valves, and changing the oil.
