As I’m sure all you Mustang enthusiasts know, this is by far one of the rarest produced Mustangs in the last year this package was offered. In fact, ONLY 251 of these were made out of 317,423 Mustangs produced in 1968!
The High Country Special was made from 1966-1968 in response to folks in the Denver mountain region who wanted a car similar to the California Special GT but wanted it named more for their region. This was Ford’s answer. It came with the Shelby-like options including:
-Horizontal tail lamps (across the whole back)
-Exposed functional hood locks
-Rectangular fog lamps
-Decklid spoiler
-Body-side scoops
-Functional louvered hood with built-in turn signals
-Striping package
Other options include:
-4-speed manual transmission
-White Sidewall Tires
-AM Radio
-Tinted Glass
-Wheel Covers
-Wheel lip moulding and front and rear bumper guards
This Mustang has the original base 289 V8 engine and original transmission.
