The 911L was offered for the 1968 model year only, and this example was delivered from the factory in Blood Orange (6809) and repainted in its current shade of silver during previous ownership. The 911L was offered for the 1968 model year only, and this example was delivered from the factory in Blood Orange (6809) and repainted in its current shade of silver during previous ownership. The side marker holes were filled, and three-bar Porsche-script graphics were added to the sides. Features include a Golde electric sunroof, pop-out rear quarter windows, European-specification headlights, replacement front fog lights, rear bumper guards with rubber inserts, a Hirsch automatic antenna, and a Durant left-side mirror. Exterior imperfections, including paint chips on the driver’s door, are highlighted in the gallery below.
Fuchs 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Avon CR6ZZ tires that display a mix of 2019 and 2020 date codes. A matching spare wheel and a Vredestein tire are located under the front hood in addition to a fire extinguisher and a partial tool kit. Koni shock absorbers and Turbo-style tie rods have been fitted, and the seller notes an alignment was performed during current ownership as well as replacement of the left door handle and various trim pieces.
The seller fitted Recaro comfort seats upholstered in black “elephant hide” vinyl along with a matching rear seat, and the shift knob, sun visors, and seatbelts were also replaced. Coco floor mats protect the carpets, and additional equipment includes a locking glove compartment and a Becker Europa stereo. The seller states that additional interior pieces were replaced, including the heater lever and throttle cable. The dashboard-mounted analog clock is currently inoperative.
The wood-trimmed steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, and additional gauges displaying fuel level, oil level, oil pressure, and oil temperature. The five-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over once and currently shows under 31k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The air-cooled 2.0L flat-six features Weber carburetors and a Bosch distributor, both of which were refurbished during current ownership, along with a relocated fuel pump, Perma-Tune ignition components, Carrera chain tensioners, Turbo-style valve covers, and SSI heat exchangers paired with a sport-style muffler. Additional recent services are said to include an oil change, valve adjustment, and replacement of the wiring harness as well as various gaskets, seals, and hoses.
Engine stamping #3280124 corresponds with a 1968 911L-production engine, though it does not match the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity seen below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, which was recently refurbished and fitted with replacement clutch components. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
