Delivered new in Aztec Aqua (E5) according to the Marti report and the trim tag, the car was repainted under previous ownership in the current shade of Acapulco Blue. Features include a black-finished hood, hood pins, color-keyed mirrors, quarter-panel scoops, Mach 1 decals, and quad exhaust tips that exit under the rear valance. The seller notes blemishes on portions of the finish, which is depicted further in the gallery below.
Chrome-finished 15″ GT-style wheels are mounted with reproduction Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires. Factory equipment included front disc brakes, and the seller notes the car is equipped with an aftermarket front sway bar and power-assisted steering.
White vinyl upholstery and trim are fitted in place of the factory black trim (3AA), and equipment includes a push-button AM radio, black carpets, front shoulder belts, and a clock, as well as teak-toned appliqués on the dashboard, center console, and door panels.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. An AEM Air/Fuel ratio gauge is mounted on the column. The five-digit odometer shows 62k miles and has rolled over. True mileage is unknown. The seller notes the climate controls are stuck.
The R-code 428ci Cobra Jet V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 335 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with a 3.50:1 Traction-Lok Rear Axle. The engine and transmission were rebuilt during the refurbishment, and the removed emissions equipment are included in the sale. The oil was changed in August 2022 according to the seller, who notes the engine may need tuning. Additional issues include oil seepage from the valve covers and loose steering.
Images showing stampings and casting numbers on the engine block and components are included in the gallery below.
Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery to show surfaces coated in red oxide primer as well as the drivetrain, chambered exhaust system, and driveline components.
Photos showing various stages of the refurbishment process are also presented in the gallery.
