The car was finished from the factory in Arabian Gray and was repainted during the refurbishment. Equipment includes a replacement black soft top, a body-color hardtop, European-spec headlights, later-model taillights, a driver’s side mirror, and a twin-tip exhaust outlet. The weather stripping, exterior brightwork, and chrome bumpers were replaced under current ownership.
Steel 14″ wheels wear polished covers with body-color centers and are wrapped in 195/70 Michelin Defender tires showing 2016 date codes. The car is equipped with power steering, Bilstein shocks, and four-wheel disc brakes. The brake master cylinder was replaced during the refurbishment, and the steering drag link, tie rods, and upper and lower control arms were overhauled in 2019.
The car was ordered with Dark Red MB-Tex upholstery (132), and the seats have been retrimmed with red leather. The dash pad, door panels, and carpeting were replaced during the refurbishment. Amenities include burl wood trim on the dashboard and center console box, air conditioning, a VDO clock, a locking glovebox, a RetroSound stereo, and lap belts.
The replacement black two-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a vertical combination gauge with readouts for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.8-liter inline-six is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 168 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The ignition coil, spark plug wires, thermostat, water pump, radiator hoses, and valve cover gasket were replaced during the refurbishment as outlined in the invoices provided in the gallery. Work in 2019 consisted of replacing the timing chain, spark plugs, and drive belts in addition to setting the ignition timing, resealing the front of the engine, and refinishing the valve cover and intake manifold. The oil was changed in preparation for sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The transmission was flushed and the output shaft and pan were resealed in 2019.
Photos showing the floor pans during the refurbishment can be viewed in the gallery.
