The car was finished from the factory in Dark Burnt Orange and is said to have been repainted in its current shade of orange with black side stripes in 1986. A matte-black fiberglass hood with a raised intake scoop as well as blacked-out headlight and taillight panels were standard on the T/A. Further exterior details include front and rear spoilers, hood pins, chrome-finished bumpers, color-keyed racing mirrors, “340 Six Pack” graphics, and polished dual side-exit exhaust outlets. The trim tag indicates that the car was equipped from the factory with a black vinyl roof.
Silver 15″ Rallye wheels wear polished trim rings and are mounted with staggered-width Goodyear Polyglas GT white-letter tires, while a non-matching spare is stored in the trunk compartment. Challenger T/A cars were equipped with Rallye Suspension, which featured a larger front sway bar, a rear sway bar, heavy-duty shock absorbers, and increased camber of the rear springs. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted discs up front and drums out back.
The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in Burnt Orange vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Woodgrain trim adorns the center console and instrument panel, and additional appointments include a heater/defroster, a floor-mounted shifter, lap belts, T/A-branded floor mats, and a Chrysler push-button AM radio.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts instrumentation consisting of a 150-mph speedometer, a clock, and a combination gauge. An Auto Meter 8k-rpm tachometer has been installed on the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows 69k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 340ci “Six Pack” V8 features three two-barrel carburetors and an orange-painted engine block, intake manifold, air cleaner assembly, and valve covers. It was reportedly overhauled in 1986 with a replacement camshaft, and an oil change was performed in October 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a 3.91:1 Sure Grip rear axle. A shift kit is said to have been installed under previous ownership, and chips in the paint are noted along the rocker panels.
The fender tag is shown above and decoded in a seller-provided document pictured in the gallery below. A Production Broadcast sheet, an operator’s manual, and a car cover will accompany the sale.
