The 1.6 HF Series 1 was an evolution of the Coupé Rallye 1.3 HF, and it featured an aluminum hood, doors, and trunk lid as well as “Fanalone” 170mm inner headlights.
This example is said to have been delivered from the factory in Rosso Corsa and was repainted in its current orange with yellow and blue over-the-top stripes in 2004. Features include Carello fog lamps, Italian number plates, black plastic fender flares, a fender-mounted Vitaloni driver-side mirror, a locking gas door, and HF fender and tail panel decals. The car is not fitted with bumpers, and cracks on the hood and C-pillars can be seen in the gallery below.
Silver 13×6″ Campagnolo wheels are mounted with 185/70 Pirelli Cintruato CN36 tires that show date codes from 2018, while a matching spare is stored in the trunk. The 1.6 HF features front unequal-length wishbones, a transverse leaf spring, a live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and rear Panhard rods as well as front and rear anti-roll bars. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, rotors, brake pads, shocks, ball joints, and suspension bushings were replaced in the 2020s.
The cabin features Fusina front bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with corduroy inserts. Matching vinyl extends to the rear shelf and door panels, while black rubber mats line the floors. Additional equipment includes a wood dash panel, a heater, a locking glovebox, and a driver-side Sabelt harness. Wear on the lower dash and seats is noted by the seller.
The Ferrero two-spoke steering wheel features a Lancia horn button and frames a 140-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure, while an oil temperature gauge is mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter V4 was overhauled and fitted with an oil sump, crankshaft, cylinder head, and valve cover from a “Variante 1016” works race engine in 2013 by Vere Lancia of Haarlem, The Netherlands. Additional equipment includes twin Solex 45DDHF carburetors, forged pistons, S2 connecting rods, Vere 305 camshafts, an electronic distributor, and a competition oil pump. The cylinder head was repaired by Modena Motorsport of Los Angeles in July 2018, and replacement piston rings were installed at that time. Service performed since 2021 involved overhauling the carburetors and starter in addition to replacing the head gasket, cylinder head seals and bolts, camshafts, timing chain, accelerator cable, valve cover gasket, water temperature sensor, valve guides, spark plugs, and battery. Engine stamping 818.540 *001009* V.1016 can be seen above and corresponds to a Rallye 1.6 HF built between 1969 and 1970.
