Designed as a replacement for the US Army Jeeps that were left behind for use by the Austrian Army after World War II, the Haflinger was manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG in Austria from the late 1950s to the mid 1970s. This example is a US-market Pathfinder 700AP that is said to have been refinished in green during prior ownership. Features include 13″ steel wheels, a folding windshield, a removable black soft top, tubular bumpers, dual side mirrors, and US-spec headlights with guards. Scratches and paint chips around the truck can be viewed in the gallery.
Silver-finished 13” steel wheels are mounted with 185/70 Road Runner A/S Radial tires. The truck features an independent suspension with front and rear portal axles allowing for increased ground clearance. The wheel hubs are said to have been serviced in May 2022.
The passenger compartment features two front seats and two folding rear seats trimmed in black vinyl. The rear seats fold into the floor to create a flat cargo area, and the fuel filler is accessed under the driver’s seat. Black bedliner coating has been applied to the footwells, and an Eberspächer gasoline-fueled heater is mounted under the dash. The seller notes that the rear seat frames are a different shade of green than the body and reports that the electrical system was refurbished in May 2022.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts an aluminum instrument panel with a 60-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles, approximately 300 of which have been added under current ownership.
The air-cooled 643cc flat-twin is mounted out back and forms a stressed member of the chassis. Work performed in May 2022 is said to have included rebuilding the carburetor, changing the oil, and replacing the fuel lines, fuel filters, and throttle and choke cables.
