Alpina 13” wheels are wrapped in Firestone Firehawk 660 tires sized 205/60 at all four corners. Stopping power is provided by front discs with rear drums, and a spare set of factory steel wheels is included in the sale.
The cabin features bolstered sport bucket seats trimmed in perforated black vinyl along with matching door panels and salt-and-pepper square-weave carpets. Amenities include a fire extinguisher, a heater, rear window defroster, and a Blaupunkt radio.
A three-spoke steering wheel re-covered with leather frames a red instrument bezel containing an 8k-rpm VDO tachometer and 240-km/h speedometer. A VDO analog clock and boost gauge are housed in a pod on the dashboard, and the five-digit odometer shows just over 6k kilometers (~4k miles), approximately 200 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four features Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection and was fitted with a Kühnle, Kopp, & Kausch turbocharger, 6.9:1 compression pistons, and an auxiliary oil cooler from the factory. The engine was rebuilt in Slovenia in 2019, while work in October 2020 carried out by Precision Auto Research of Bensenville, Illinois included rebuilding the fuel injection pump and turbocharger, reconditioning and recalibrating the warm-up transmitter and turbo aneroid, and performing fluid changes.
Engine block stamping number 4290069 shown above matches the number stamped on the chassis plate displayed in the gallery as well as the BMW Classic Certificate below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a factory limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
The BMW Classic Certificate was issued in June 2019 and lists original delivery to BMW Italia S.p.A in Palazzolo, Verona, Italy, along with the factory colors, chassis and engine numbers, and a February 17, 1974 date of manufacture.
