The 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels have been refurbished by Fuchs and are mounted with 215/60 Pirelli P6000 tires showing date codes from 2021 and 2022. Braking is from vented discs all around, and recent work included rebuilding the front calipers. Bilstein struts were also installed, and the sway bar bushings, ball joints, and brake lines were replaced.
Midnight cloth upholstery and patterned inserts cover the front seats, while Midnight leather trims the folding rear seats. Appointments include an analog clock, Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, and a heated rear window.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that consists of a 150-mph speedometer, a centrally mounted tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. Gauge rebuilds were performed as part of the refurbishment. The five-digit odometer now shows 61k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.7-liter flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was recently rebuilt, including installation of an upgraded fan and Carrera-style tensioners. Additional recent work included cleaning and refinishing the oil tank, installing new engine compartment sound padding, and replacing the fan rivets, fuel tank, fuel lines, throttle cable bushings, and battery.
Engine rebuild work also included installing Mahle pistons and all new bearings, and the heads were rebuilt by Dick Elverud. Additional in-process photos of the overhaul can be found in the gallery.
In-process photos from the overhaul of the five-speed manual transaxle can be found in the gallery as well. Replacement shifter bushings have been fitted in addition to SSI heat exchangers.
