The seller states that the body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in its current shade of blue by Dark Forest Restoration and Performance of Elliston, Virginia, as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior features include a removable white hardtop, a rear window deflector, western-style mirrors, and chrome bumpers. The windshield, rear window, badging, weatherstripping, exterior seals, and trim are said to have been replaced at the time of the repaint, and additional work included installation of aftermarket headlights, Carr side steps, and front bumper guards and tow hooks.
White-finished 15″ American Racing wheels are mounted with 35×12.5″ Yokohama Geolandar M/T+ tires. The front axle is equipped with Mile Marker manually locking front hubs, and the truck rides on a Bronco Graveyard 4″ suspension lift kit with a steering stabilizer, a RedHead steering gear, a Hellwig Products rear sway bar, and Deaver Spring springs. The seller states that the front brake rotors, brake lines, and parking brake cable were replaced under current ownership.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with cloth inserts accompanied by color-coordinated door panel inserts and a body-color dashboard with woodgrain trim. Equipment includes a Tuffy locking center console, a heater, a retro-look digital stereo, a fire extinguisher, a factory roll bar, and three-point front seatbelts. The seller states that bedliner coating and Dynamat insulation material were applied to the cabin prior to installation of a replacement dash panel and carpets.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted to a tilt column and fronts an 85-mph speedometer as well as auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 20k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. The odometer is believed to have rolled over, and true mileage is unknown.
The seller states that the 351ci V8 was bored 0.30″ over and stroked to displace 408ci by Pence Competition Engines of Covington, Virginia, under current ownership. The engine is equipped with a K&N air cleaner assembly, a Holley Street Avenger carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, an aluminum radiator, Ford Racing aluminum valve covers, and an MSD Ignition Cap-A-Dapt kit and ignition wires. Exhaust gasses flow from Hedman ceramic-coated headers through Flowmaster mufflers before exiting ahead of the rear wheels. Additional work performed under current ownership reportedly included replacing the following parts and components:
A replacement C6 three-speed automatic transmission and heavy-duty torque converter from TCI Automotive were installed under current ownership and send power to the rear or all four wheels through an NP205 dual-range transfer case and rebuilt front and rear differentials with 4.56:1 gears. The front differential has been fitted with a G2 Axle & Gear aluminum cover, and the frame was reportedly repainted during the refurbishment.
The warranty number reveals that the truck left the Michigan Truck assembly facility as a 1978 Bronco powered by a 351ci V8. Further decoding the chassis plate reveals the following information:
A December 2018 issue of Bronco Driver magazine featuring the truck is included in the sale along with awards from the Bronco Super Celebration and Carlisle Ford Nationals shows.
