The Testarossa was renamed 512 TR in 1991 and was facelifted with color-matched bumpers, new lighting, and revised wheels. The Pininfarina-designed body is finished in Rosso Corsa and features pop-up headlights, side strakes, a black rear grille, and integrated quad exhaust outlets. The seller states a protective clear film is fitted to the front, mirrors, and lower rear of the car. Factory 16″ wheels feature Ferrari center caps and are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires that measure 235/40 up front and 295/35 out back. The brake fluid was changed in June 2021. Scratches are noted on the wheels, and during a service inspection in June 2021 tire and brake hose replacement was recommended.
The cockpit features tan leather upholstery on the seats, door panels, and lower dashboard joined by a black upper dashboard. Amenities include power-operated windows, mirrors, and locks. Modifications include a Dave Helms fusebox, and an aluminum shift knob and pedals. The stereo left lid cover hinge is broken and wear is visible on the driver’s seat outer bolster. The driver side seatbelt buckle needs to be replaced per a service inspection performed in June 2021.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,250-rpm redline, and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature as well as fuel level and oil temperature which are housed in the dashboard. The six-digit mechanical odometer indicates 40k miles, approximately 21k of which have been added by the seller.
The 4.9-liter DOHC flat-12 received updates over the version used in the Testarossa, including Nikasil cylinder liners, a redesigned intake system, and Bosch engine management. Output was rated at 428 horsepower and 362 lb-ft of torque when new. The fuel pressure regulator was reportedly replaced, and the seller notes two 30k-mile services were performed along with a fluid service during current ownership. Additional service has consisted of changing the coolant, recharging the air conditioning, and replacing the left-side radiator and both radiator fans. A battery quick disconnect was reportedly added as well as a relay module. During a service inspection in June 2021, a leaking water pump and cam seals were noted.
The five-speed manual transaxle with a dogleg first gear routes power to the rear wheels. The gearbox fluid was replaced in June 2021, and a Tubi exhaust system is said to have been installed.
