When the model was introduced in 1991, the Continental R was notably the first Bentley that deviated from sharing bodywork with contemporary Rolls-Royce models since 1965. This example is finished in black and features color-matched bumper covers as well as chrome trim and dual exhaust outlets. The selling dealer states that the hood, front bumper cover, headlight, and grille surroundings were repainted in January 2022.
Alloy 17″ wheels wear replacement center caps and are mounted with 245/55 Michelin Primacy 3 tires. The Continental R features a hydraulic self-leveling suspension and vented front disc brakes with twin calipers. The front ball joint assembly was replaced in January 2018. The brake pads, rear parking brake pads and dampers, power steering hose, and front upper shock mounts and springs have been replaced since 2021.
The cabin houses heated and power-adjustable front seats upholstered in Sandstone leather with black piping along with burl wood trim on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, Cocomats wool floor mats, a rear center console, and a factory cassette stereo. A replacement alarm system and seat control module were installed in 2021. Additional work reportedly included replacing the speakers, refinishing the front seat bases, and refurbishing the seats and wood trim. The selling dealer notes that the front seat memory functions have been disabled, and the removed factory floor mats are included in the sale.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 170-mph speedometer and a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 34k miles, approximately 4k of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 6.75-liter V8 is equipped with a Zytek engine management system as well as a Garrett turbocharger, and was factory rated at 325 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. The spark plugs and thermostat were replaced in January 2018. Service performed since 2021 has included replacing the valve cover gaskets, battery, oil cooler, motor mounts, and hood struts in addition to cleaning the throttle body and tightening the alternator belt.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a replacement viscous rear differential that was installed in April 2022. The rear subframe dampers were replaced in November 2021.
