The Carfax report shows accident damage with another motor vehicle that affected the rear of the car in May 1997, though the seller states it was due to a previous owner backing into a concrete column while exiting a parking space. The rear bumper cover was reportedly replaced to address the damage. A paint-correction service is said to have been carried out in 2020, at which time a ceramic coating was applied to the body. The 18″ Turbo Twist wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 225/40 up front and 275/35 out back. European-specification springs are reportedly fitted, and the car features an Automatic Brake Differential (ABD). Records indicate that the front CV boots and brakes were replaced in February 2022.
The high-back front bucket seats are upholstered in gray leather complemented by a color-coordinated center console and Midnight Blue carpets. An RS-style shifter linkage is fitted, and amenities include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, air conditioning, and a Bluetooth-capable Continental stereo.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 180-mph speedometer, a Quarz analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 55k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.
The air-cooled 3.6L flat-six features a VarioRam intake system and was factory rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential, and the car is equipped with the optional Motor Sound Package, which added a revised intake and mufflers. Work completed in June 2020 included replacing the fuel pump, alternator, and clutch secondary hydraulic cylinder, while service performed between April and August 2021 included replacing the air-conditioning system belt as well as the spark plugs and wires.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Copans Motors in Pompano Beach, Florida, and lists factory equipment, colors, options, and a total price of $77,437. Purchase documents, manufacturer’s literature, and service records dating back to 1997 are also included in the sale.
