The Rt12 S was introduced in 2009 as a higher-powered version of the Rt12, which entered production in 2004 as RUF’s first offering based on the 997-generation Porsche 911. The S variant featured revised aerodynamics, including restyled quarter panels with larger air ducts and side mirrors shared with the RUF CTR3. Additional RUF design elements include a front spoiler as well as a carbon-fiber decklid topped by an exposed carbon-fiber rear wing.
This example is finished in Guards Red, and the front and rear bumpers are said to have been repainted approximately five years ago to address scratches. US-market Xenon headlights were installed in March 2022 along with orange side markers. An uninstalled set of clear markers are included in the sale.
Silver 19″ cast-alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport S tires measuring 235/35 up front and 325/30 at the rear. Stopping power is handled by cross-drilled and ventilated carbon-ceramic rotors acted upon by monobloc alloy calipers featuring six pistons at each front wheel and four pistons for each rear unit. Suspension comprises a McPherson-strut front setup and a multi-link rear arrangement with adjustable coilovers at each corner.
The cabin houses bucket seats trimmed in black leather with red stitching and Alcantara inserts, while matching upholstery covers the fold-down rear seats, door panels, console, and dash. Features include an integrated roll cage, red front shoulder belts, intertia-reel rear lap belts, automatic climate control, and Porsche Communication Management, the latter of which received a system update in March 2022.
The three-spoke steering wheel is trimmed in black leather with red stitching and sits ahead of a central tachometer with a 7,400-rpm redline and an integrated digital display as well as a 370-km/h speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 23k miles, approximately 5k of which have been added under current ownership.
The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six is equipped with dual intercoolers, dry-sump lubrication, and Bosch electronic fuel injection. Factory-rated power output at the time of the S variant’s introduction was 685 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Service performed in March 2022 by RUF Automobile in Pfaffenhausen, Germany, included an oil change and replacement of the coolant temperature sensor.
Power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential.
The carbon-fiber airbox is etched with the Rt12 S model as well as serial number 001. An additional uninstalled airbox with a red model plate is included in the sale and is also marked with number 001. The seller reports the car is 49-state emissions legal and is not compliant with California’s emission standards.
