Approximately 650 CSX4000 continuation Cobras were built by Shelby American, Inc. between 1997 and 2009, and a dash plaque identifies this example as CSX4196.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Shelby-branded instrumentation that includes a reverse-sweep 180-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 1k miles. The speedometer cable was replaced in 2012 and the odometer was reportedly reset. True mileage is unknown.
The Shelby-built aluminum 427ci side-oiler V8 is topped by a single Holley carburetor and features an aluminum radiator.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Statement of Origin from Shelby Automobiles, Inc. shows a Carroll Shelby signature and a production date of March 6, 2000.
