The Chrysler 300 letter series debuted for 1955, and the Virgil Exner-designed C-300 featured a front clip shared with the contemporary Imperial as well as New Yorker hardtop bodywork and quarter panels shared with the Chrysler Windsor. The body on this example is said to have been removed from the frame before it received a repaint in Tango Red under previous ownership. The chrome wire wheels wear knockoff-style hubcaps and are mounted with Firestone 8.20-15 bias-ply whitewall tires. A matching spare wheel and tire are mounted in the trunk. The C-300 features an independent front suspension, a live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and power-assisted steering. Braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners.
The cabin features a power-adjustable front bench trimmed in tan leather along with a matching rear bench, door panels, and dash accents. The two-tone dashboard was shared with the contemporary Imperial and houses an analog clock, a heater, a lockable glovebox, a push-button radio, and the shifter for the automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes front lap belts, roll-down rear windows, a tan fire extinguisher with 300-C badging, and rear reading lights.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 150-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just over 700 miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 331ci FirePower Hemi V8 is equipped with dual four-barrel carburetors and a “batwing” air cleaner for a factory-rated 300 horsepower. The engine is said to have been rebuilt under previous ownership.
