Silver 15″ steel wheels wear bright hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, while a spare is stored in the front trunk. The left-front wheel has a bent lip, and the hubcaps are pitted. The car is equipped with a front sway bar, and a front disc brake conversion was installed in 2012. A rear brake hose is said to have been replaced in 2023.
The front bucket seats and folding rear bench are upholstered in black vinyl and joined by a color-coordinated dash pad, door panels, and carpeting. Lap belts are fitted for front occupants, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is housed in the body-color dashboard. The seller reports that the radio has been rebuilt and the rear seat pads and side window components have been replaced. Stains are visible on the headliner and sun visors, and worn interior trim is shown up close in the photo gallery.
A two-spoke steering wheel features a red-finished horn ring and shows cracks on its horn button and rim. VDO instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, and total mileage is unknown. The tachometer cable was reportedly replaced in 2012.
The replacement air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four is said to have been overhauled in 2000 and is equipped with dual Weber carburetors, mesh air cleaners, and a Bosch ignition coil. The seller notes an aluminum oil cooler has been installed, and service since 2018 is said to have included rebuilding the fuel pump and adjusting the carburetors, valves, and timing as well as replacing the battery, valve cover gaskets, and ignition components.
Engine stamping P*80098* is shown above and corresponds to a Type 616/2 engine built for a 1956 1600 Super. Additional powertrain stampings are presented in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transaxle. Rust repairs were reportedly performed on the chassis and floors in 2020, and a coating has been applied to the underside.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists factory colors, powertrain numbers, and a production completion date of January 28, 1957.
