The Reutter-built body was originally finished in Elfenbein white and was refinished in silver metallic during the refurbishment completed in 2006. Metalwork performed prior to paint included repairs to the floors, the front trunk floor, the front fenders, and the quarter panels. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, a black top boot, a single side-view mirror, and gold badging. A Speedster windshield and frame were installed in 2019 to replace the previously-fitted plexiglass windshield, and the exterior door handles were replaced during current ownership.
15″ ventilated steel wheels were powder-coated in silver in 2017 and are wrapped in 195/50 Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel hydraulic drums.
The interior was refurbished by Guy’s Interior Restorations of Portland, Oregon, in 2019 and features low-back bucket seats upholstered in red, matching door panels, a red dash top, and salt-and-pepper carpets. Vintage aircraft-style lap belts are installed, and the wood shift knob wears a Porsche crest.
The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts green-letter VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 7k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The tachometer was repaired in 2019, and the five-digit odometer shows 15k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four engine was sourced from a 1969 912 model and features dual Solex carburetors. Service performed in 2019 included a rebuilt generator and a replacement battery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle, which was removed in 2019 and fitted with a replacement first gear assembly by Gent Auto Restoration of Sherwood, Oregon. Replacement axle seals were also installed, and the center-exit exhaust was fitted with a replacement muffler in 2019.
The Kardex lists factory identification numbers and shows a build date of July 18, 1957. The selling dealer has provided a driving video below.
