Red-painted 15″ steel wheels with spinner-style covers are wrapped in 215/75 Coker Classic whitewall tires that were installed in February 2023. The car came equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension, and an independent rear suspension reportedly sourced from a 1968 Corvette is said to have been installed in the 1970s along with Koni shocks. TRW composite mono-leaf rear springs have also been added. Braking is handled by discs at all four corners, and the brake fluid is said to have been changed in preparation for the sale.
The cabin features two bucket seats that have been re-trimmed in black vinyl and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard topper and door panels. Appointments include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a heater and defroster, lap belts, polished sill plates, an analog clock, and a Wonder Bar push-button AM radio. The battery has been relocated to the trunk, which also contains a battery cut-off switch and tender wire, a space-saver spare tire, and an electric windshield washing system. A heat barrier kit was used to cover the floors in 2006, at which time replacement carpets were reportedly installed and the radio was repaired. The seller states that the pedal arms for the brakes and clutch were recently replaced.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a sweeping 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, oil pressure, and fuel level, the latter of which is said to have been replaced in preparation for the sale. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 50 of which were added by the current owner.
The 283ci V8 was reportedly overhauled in 2011, while work in 2023 is said to have included a rebuild of the carburetor, changes of the engine oil and coolant, and the replacement of the valve cover gaskets and thermostat housing gaskets.
The CQ engine-code suffix shown above is consistent with a 283ci V8 rated at 230 horsepower and designated for a 1960 Corvette with a single four-barrel carburetor and a manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
