Description
The body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its current red by Ideal Auto Rebuilders in San Francisco after panel repairs were carried out as needed. Brightwork was replaced, and a new windshield was installed along with various body seals. Yellow fog lights are mounted under the front bumper. Imperfections include chips on the door edges, a paint bubble, and wear on portions of bright trim and seals.

Chrome steel wheels are said to be wider than stock and wear Porsche-crest hubcaps. Cooper CS4 Touring tires measure 185/65R15 all around, while a 165HR-15 Dunlop spare is housed in the front compartment. A brake overhaul included the addition of front discs in lieu of the factory drums.
The cabin was retrimmed in tan by Zuffenhausen Auto in San Rafael, California, with leather covering the front seats and matching vinyl on the rear seats, side panels, and dash pad. Beige square-weave carpeting and a ribbed black vinyl floor mat were fitted along with an ivory headliner. Replacement black lap belts were installed in 2017, and a set of fitted calico Coco mats has also been added.
The aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel with a Porsche crest horn button frames green-lettered VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 12k miles. Actual mileage is unknown. A Pioneer stereo mounted in the glovebox feeds aftermarket speakers in the kick panels, while a blanking plate covers the factory radio location.
The 1.6-liter 616/2 flat-four is stamped *87313* and was rebuilt by Zuffenhausen Auto with a line-bored case, additional machine work, and a valve job. Twin Weber carburetors are topped by aftermarket air cleaners. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volts.
A 2017 service included adjustment of the brakes, clutch, and other linkages, while a transaxle gasket was replaced and an Optima battery installed in April 2021. Close-up photos of stampings on the four-speed manual gearbox and other components are provided in the gallery below.
