The car was refurbished in 1978 and again in 2002, at which time it was stripped and refinished in blue. Wood was replaced in 1978, and bodywork with lead filler was performed. The blue three-position soft top was recently replaced. Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels were fitted circa 2002 and wear radial tires, and a matching spare is mounted at the rear. The car is equipped with front disc brakes, a dual-circuit master cylinder, and Spax adjustable shocks. The chrome on one wheel spinner is damaged.
The cabin features a bench seat trimmed in gray leather, along with matching door panels and blue wool carpets. Equipment includes wood trim, lap belts, and a carpeted parcel shelf behind the seat. The seller notes that the wood dash is cracked on the right side.
The four-spoke banjo-style steering wheel fronts an instrument panel that houses a 110-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, approximately 55k of which were added during current ownership.
The seller states that the inline-four was rebuilt in 1978 and increased in displacement to 2.2 liters. Work circa 2002 reportedly included balancing the rotating assembly, installing hardened valve seats, and replacing the carburetors, while service in 2022 included fluid changes, replacing the throwout bearing, and resealing the engine. The engine is equipped with dual side-draft carburetors, an alternator, a high-torque starter, electronic ignition, a finned valve cover, and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Service in preparation for the sale included flushing the fluid in the transmission and differential.
The original sales invoice lists equipment along with a total price of $3,212.
A tool roll, a car cover, spare and removed parts, manufacturer’s literature, workshop manuals, magazines, and service records dating to the 1970s are included in the sale.
