An area of corrosion is exhibited behind the driver-side front wheel well as well as a spot below the passenger-side front bumper. A total of approximately 7,820 XKE 3.8L roadsters were produced between 1961 and 1964.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs are wrapped in Michelin tires. Power-assisted disc brakes are fitted at all four corners, and the seller notes that the rear brakes exhibit seeping. Corrosion is noted on some of the wheel spokes, and the steering rack was reportedly replaced during the 1996 refurbishment. The passenger-side rear trailing arm has broken loose.
The interior features seats reupholstered in gray leather with matching door panels over replacement gray carpeting, and the seat bolsters show wear. Aluminum trim is fitted to the center instrument panel and console, along with a factory blank plate in the center stack in place of the radio. The seller notes damage to the floor of the spare tire area within the trunk.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and center-mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer displays 31k miles.
The 3.8-liter inline-six was reportedly rebuilt in 1996 and is equipped with triple SU carburetors that were refurbished with replacement jets, gaskets, metering needles, and seats. The car was reportedly serviced under current ownership by Classic and Exotic Service of Troy, Michigan, and additional work is said to have consisted of installing a replacement fuel pump, fuel tank, battery, and throttle shaft. The ignition points were cleaned and set in preparation for sale.
Cylinder head stamping R9507-9 corresponds with the stamping number on the engine block and data plate, photos of which are provided in the gallery along with additional chassis and transmission stampings.
