Following BMW’s takeover of Glas in September 1966, the model received a displacement increase and remained in production with BMW badging through mid-1968. This example was originally finished in Chamonix and was repainted in its current shade of metallic olive green during the refurbishment performed five years ago.
Silver-painted steel wheels wear bright covers and are mounted with 185HR14 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, while a matching spare is wrapped in Uniroyal rubber. Stopping is handled by hydraulic disc brakes with the rear assemblies mounted inboard.
The cabin is trimmed in blue vinyl with pleated cloth inserts over the front bucket seats and rear bench. Additional features include gray carpeting, front shoulder belts, bright Glas-branded threshold plates, a fold-down rear armrest, and a Becker Grand Prix radio. The wood-rimmed steering wheel features a Glas-logo horn button and sits ahead of VDO instrumentation including a 230-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline, a clock, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 94k kilometers (~59k miles), approximately 2k of which have been added under current ownership.
The 2,982cc V8 features a single belt-driven camshaft on each cylinder bank and breathes through triple Solex downdraft carburetors. Output was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Suspension comprises a coil-sprung double-wishbone front setup and a De Dion rear end with leaf springs and a Panhard rod. Telescopic shock absorbers are utilized at each corner.
