The body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its factory shade of Arabian Gray (124) in 2008 by Hot Rods & Hobbies in Signal Hill, California. The body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its factory shade of Arabian Gray (124) in 2008 by Hot Rods & Hobbies in Signal Hill, California. Rust repair was performed on the driver’s front fender at that time, and bodywork was carried out on the lower right quarter panel as well as around the right front wheel well. The removable hardtop was repainted its factory shade of Anthracite Grey Metallic (173) and a replacement black soft top was installed. The side glass and rubber seals were replaced in June 2021. Steel 14” wheels wear polished covers with Anthracite Grey Metallic-painted centers to match the hardtop and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin Harmony tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, and a spare is housed in the trunk.
The seats were reupholstered in black MB-Tex in 2009 by Trim Line & European Upholstery of Redondo Beach, California. Replacement salt-and-pepper loop carpeting was also installed, and wood trim accents the top of the dash and center console. Additional equipment includes a Becker Europa II radio, and a VDO analog clock. The hardtop headliner was replaced in June 2021.
A two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring fronts VDO instrumentation consisting of a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and vertically-oriented gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 3k of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 2.8-liter M30 inline-six was installed in January 2000 and overhauled again by Beverly Laurel Automotive in Los Angeles, California in May 2011 with replacement piston rings, rod bearings, and intake valves. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in March 2010 by Torrance Transmission in Torrance, California. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery.
