After acquiring the car in 2016, the current owner added a TRE Motorsports hood with a backdated safety latch. The car is not equipped with a sunroof, and features include H4 headlights, hood and decklid tie-downs, a left-side mirror, lower door script, 1969-style window frames and door handles, and dual exhaust outlets. In September 2021, Race Car Resurrections of Portland, Oregon adjusted the bumpers, fit glass rear quarter windows, installed horns, and repaired the wiring for the head and taillights.
15″ RSR-style Fuchs wheels have been added and are wrapped in Pirelli P600 tires sized 195/65 front and 215/60 rear. The suspension is modified with Rennline EZ Adjust spring plates, Bilstein struts, an Elephant Racing bump steer kit, Tarett Engineering monoball camber plates, a Rennline front strut-tower brace, sway bar links, and 930 tie rod ends. The braking system was overhauled with new components and lines.
The interior was reupholstered in black leather and features fixed-back sport seats with Pepita cloth inserts and Sabelt four-point belts. Equipment includes a roll bar, RS-style door panels, rear luggage straps, Coco Mats, and a Wevo shifter with a 917-style wood shift knob. Dashboard cracks were previously repaired.
The MOMO Prototipo steering wheel fronts a 9k-rpm tachometer and a 180-mph speedometer as well as gauges for oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 12k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The speedometer and tachometer were recently rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer.
The front trunk is fitted with a replacement fuel tank, a Rennline battery brace and panels, and a spare tire.
The flat-six was rebuilt to 3.2-liters by Rothsport Road & Race with new pistons and cylinders, Dilivar head studs, custom camshafts, a 911 Race valve spring set, and Jenvey Dynamics individual throttle bodies. Additional equipment includes a front-mount Carrera oil cooler, MoTeC engine management, custom Rothsport ECU wiring harness, Elephant Racing finned oil lines and thermostat, and an RS-style exhaust. The spark plugs were replaced in October 2021.
The close-ratio 915 five-speed manual transaxle was also rebuilt by Rothsport with new sleeves, synchros, 4th gear set, main shift rod, clutch, and throw-out arm assembly. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
The engine was bench tested at 277 horsepower and 202 lb-ft of torque. Photos of the refurbishment and modification process are available in the gallery. Over $70,000 of service and modification records from Rothsport Road & Race are included in the sale.
