The CJ-8 was introduced as a long-wheelbase pickup version of the CJ-7 and remained in production for model years 1981 through 1986. This example was refinished in brown with multicolor Scrambler graphics as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Faux-beadlock 15″ Currie Enterprises wheels are wrapped in 33×12.5″ Hankook Dynapro MT tires. The truck rides on a lifted suspension, and the front axle is equipped with Warn manually locking hubs. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners. The seller notes that replacement shackle bushings were installed under current ownership.
The cabin is said to have been refreshed and features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl that extends to the door panels. The floors have been coated with black bedliner material, and additional appointments include air conditioning, an aftermarket stereo, and a center console with lockable storage. The horn is inoperative.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer with inset readouts for coolant temperature and fuel level accompanied by additional auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller. The seller notes that the speedometer reads incorrectly, and true mileage is unknown.
The replacement 2.8-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-four was installed prior to the seller’s acquisition and features a Spectre engine air intake as well as an intercooler.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission that was installed under prior ownership and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is equipped with a Currie Dana 44 front axle as well as a Currie 9″ unit out back featuring limited-slip differentials and 4.10:1 gearing, according to the seller.
