Mercedes-Benz introduced the 190E Evolution as a limited-production homologation variant of the 190E 2.5-16 for the 1989 model year. Evolution-specific elements include revised front and rear valances, a larger rear wing, and more pronounced flared fenders. All 502 190E Evolution models were finished in Blue-Black Metallic (199U). Silver 16″ alloy wheels wear 225/45 Continental ExtremeContact DW Tuned tires that show 2015 date codes. The Evolution features a lower ride height and wider track compared to the standard 2.5-16 model along with adjustable self-leveling suspension. Curb rash is noted on the rear wheels. Brake work completed within the last 600 kilometers has reportedly included a fluid change and replacement of the front pads and rotors.
The cabin features heated and power-adjustable front seats upholstered in Anthracite leather with a matching dashboard, carpets, and door panels as well as wood trim on the center console. Additional equipment includes power windows, a sunroof, and a Becker Mexico cassette stereo. Wear is noted on the front seats.
The leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel frames a 260-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 114k kilometers (~71k miles), approximately 8k kilometers (~5k miles) of which were added by the seller.
The 2.5-liter inline-four was developed in conjunction with Cosworth and features a shorter stroke and larger bore than its counterpart in the standard 2.5-16 model. Factory-rated output was 204 horsepower and 177 ft-lb of torque. The fuel accumulator was replaced in September 2021, and additional recent maintenance noted by the seller includes changing the antifreeze, engine oil and filter, and the transmission fluid.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag five-speed manual transmission with a dogleg first gear and a limited-slip differential. Corrosion is visible on underside components, and additional underside photos are shown in the gallery below.
