The twin-turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six was factory rated at 444 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. 996 Turbo S models were equipped with the X50 Performance Package, which specified revised engine management software as well as larger turbochargers and intercoolers. Service in July 2020 included an oil change and replacement of the oil pressure sensor.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle.
A copy of the original invoice shows factory colors, options, and a total price of $146,950.
