Silver-finished 15″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are wrapped in 175/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in November 2019. The car is equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, independent rear suspension, Koni dampers, and 19mm sway bars. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The brake fluid was reportedly flushed in 2021.
The cabin features heated fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in brown vinyl. Additional appointments included power windows, an ivory-finished shift knob, square-weave carpets, Cocomats, lap belts, a passenger grab handle, retro-look speakers, and a Blaupunkt Hamburg stereo with an auxiliary input. An engine kill switch is installed in the rear floorboard. A tear in the inner lining of the convertible top is pictured in the gallery below.
The Lecarra wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation consisting of a 130-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a temperature gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 1,500 of which have been added under current ownership. The speedometer was repaired in 2011. Total mileage is unknown.
The flat-four is said to have been removed from a 1960 Volkswagen and reworked to displace 2,110cc. It is equipped with dual Weber carburetors, an MSD ignition controller, a Bosch distributor, and an electric fuel pump. Service performed by Intermeccanica in 2014 included the replacement of the cylinder heads and seals, exhaust header, spark plugs, and distributor rotor and cap. Work performed under current ownership is said to include the addition of a 90amp PerTronix alternator, replacement of the ignition wires and battery, and installing an exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. The oil was changed in 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt Rancho Performance Type 1 four-speed manual transaxle with 3.88:1 gearing that was installed in May 2021. The clutch and throwout bearing were replaced and the transaxle fluid was flushed in May 2021.
