Delivered from the factory in Burgundy Red (6808), the body was repainted in its current burgundy by EuroCal Auto Body of Santa Rosa, California, in 1998. Equipment includes a brushed stainless steel targa bar as well as a black removable roof panel, a zippered soft rear window, dual side-view mirrors, a retractable antenna, and Hella fog lights. The trunk was reportedly treated with SEM Rust-Mort before it was refinished by Whitman’s Auto Body of San Rafael, California, in 2021. Paint cracks on the right rear wheel opening can be seen in the gallery along with imperfections on the roof panel and a paint chip on the right quarter panel.
The replacement 15×6″ Fuchs wheels are mounted with 205/60 Yokohama Avid Envigor tires. A painted steel spare wheel with an older tire is mounted in the front trunk. The suspension was disassembled, cleaned, painted, and fitted with new bushings and shocks by S Car Go Racing of San Rafael, California, in March 2022. New brake rotors, wheel bearings, and braided steel brake lines were also installed at that time.
The cockpit features Recaro sport seats that are said to have been retrimmed in brown leather in 1998. Matching door panels and carpets fitted, and additional equipment includes a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, aftermarket door speakers, a Webasto gas heater, and shoulder belts. Wear on the carpets can be seen in the gallery, and the seller notes issues with the driver’s seat belt.
The leather-wrapped Personal Fittipaldi steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline, a 150-mph speedometer, a quarz clock, and combination gauges. A factory four-spoke steering wheel with a leather-wrapped rim is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery. The five-digit odometer is said to have rolled over once and now shows 14k miles.
The 2.0-liter Type 901/02 flat-six utilized forged light alloy pistons, soft nitrided forged-steel connecting rods, a 9.8:1 compression ratio, and dual Weber carburetors for a factory rating of 160 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Type 901 five-speed manual transaxle that was resealed by SCarGo Racing in March 2022. The undersides were also refinished, and photos taken before the work can be seen in the gallery. The seller recommends the replacement of the shift coupler and notes issues with the fuel filler.
The Porsche Tourist Delivery Order is dated August 23, 1967, and lists a total sale price of $7,037.
