This example is finished in Gunmetal Gray and features a black Everflex canvas soft top that is stowed under a matching boot. Exterior details include a fold-down full-length windshield ahead of twin Brooklands-style adjustable aeroscreens, reproduction Lucas 10.5” headlights and 7” driving lights shielded by mesh stone guards, turn signals integrated into the taillight units, a backup light, dual side mirrors, and simulated Hartford front friction dampers. Two chips in the finish beneath one of the hood edges are shown in the photo gallery below.
Silver-painted wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs debossed with the SS logo and are wrapped in 5.50-18 Blockey Special bias-ply tires, as is a matching spare mounted at the rear of the car. Servo-assisted disc brakes utilize ventilated rotors up front and solid rear rotors, the latter of which are mounted inboard. Covers are in place behind each wheel to simulate the appearance of drum brakes. Steering is handled via rack and pinion.
The cockpit houses bucket seats trimmed in red Bridge of Weir leather with matching upholstery over the door panels, while color-matched Wilton wool carpeting bound in leather covers the floors, seatbacks, and rear shelf. Interior features include inertia-reel shoulder belts, door pockets, leather-wrapped door pull straps, a lockable cubby behind the seats, and a heater.
The four-spoke steering wheel is situated at the left-hand side ahead of a body-color-painted dash panel that houses a 120-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 1,300 miles. The speedometer drive failed in 2019, and according to the seller, approximately 100 miles were accumulated while awaiting repair.
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six was sourced from a 1967 Jaguar 420 and is said to have been overhauled prior to installation by Suffolk Sportscars with a high-performance cylinder head fitted during the rebuild. Additional features include twin SU carburetors, electronic ignition, and stainless-steel exhaust headers leading to dual outlet pipes. Service in August 2022 included an oil change, a pressure test of the cooling system, and re-torquing of various running-gear fasteners.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville overdrive. Suspension comprises an independent rear setup with quad adjustable coilover shock absorbers and a double-wishbone front arrangement with single adjustable coilovers on each side.
The car is shown above being delivered to the current owner’s home by Fraser Williams of Suffolk Sportscars in 2017. Images in the gallery below also show the car during an appearance at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show as well as on the cover of an included Suffolk Sportscars brochure. A preliminary build sheet from Suffolk Sportscars is also provided along with a Suffolk invoice for the high-performance cylinder head and invoices from service between 2019 and 2022. Also included in the sale are an uninstalled set of wind wings, a tool kit, a Thor knock-off hammer, leather and carpet samples, a collection of Jaguar- and SS100-related literature, a miniature chromed statue of an SS100 grille given by Suffolk Sportscars to SS100 replica owners, and a California license plate reading “YESS100.”
